HubSpot vs Pipedrive: Which CRM Fits a Growing Business?
Already on Pipedrive and adding marketing, service or reporting? A fair comparison in pounds of what each costs, where Pipedrive falls short, and how to tell when HubSpot is worth the move.

Pipedrive is a very good sales CRM. For a growing business, the real question is whether Pipedrive plus the tools you’ve added around it still beats one platform for sales, marketing and service.
The short answer: if your CRM is used only by a sales team that needs a clear pipeline, Pipedrive is simpler and cheaper, and you may not need to change. HubSpot pulls ahead once marketing and service need to work from the same customer record, when leadership wants reporting from first website visit to closed deal, or when you’re paying for and connecting several tools around Pipedrive to fill the gaps. For most growing businesses, the useful comparison isn’t one Pipedrive seat against one HubSpot seat. It’s your whole stack against one platform.
We should say up front: we’re a HubSpot Platinum Partner, so we know HubSpot best. We’ve tried to keep this fair, and there are teams we’d tell to stay on Pipedrive.

Pipedrive and HubSpot pricing in the UK
Pipedrive costs £14 (Lite), £39 (Growth), £59 (Premium) or £79 (Ultimate) per seat a month on annual billing, or £24, £49, £79 and £99 on monthly billing. Several tools are add-ons:
Pipedrive add-on | Starting price | Included in |
|---|---|---|
LeadBooster (lead capture) | £32.50 a month | Premium and Ultimate |
Smart Docs (documents and e-signatures) | £32.50 a month | Premium and Ultimate |
Projects | £16 a month | Premium and Ultimate |
Campaigns (email marketing) | £13.33 a month | Paid extra on every plan |
Web Visitors (website visitor tracking) | £41 a month | Paid extra on every plan |
HubSpot charges per seat for one edition across the whole platform. A GTM seat costs £7 a month on Starter (a limited-time offer for new customers), £81 on Professional and £155 on Enterprise, on annual billing. Each paid edition includes a monthly allowance of HubSpot Credits for marketing emails, workflow actions and AI agents, and you pay for extra credits beyond it. Professional and Enterprise also require onboarding, which HubSpot waives when you onboard with an accredited partner.
What Pipedrive does well
Pipedrive is built around the sales pipeline, and it shows. Deals sit in clear stages, reps pick it up quickly, and there’s very little in the way of selling.
It’s good value for a sales team. Growth, at £39 a seat a month on annual billing, adds email sync, automations and forecasting to the basics.
Premium bundles the useful extras. At £59 a seat, Premium includes Pipedrive’s lead capture tools (LeadBooster), document and e-signature tools (Smart Docs) and Projects, which are paid add-ons on the cheaper plans.
It keeps up. Pipedrive has added meeting intelligence, with pre-call briefs and call summaries, and has a marketplace of more than 500 integrations.
If your CRM is only used by salespeople, your marketing is light and nobody’s asking for joined-up reporting, Pipedrive is a sensible choice. Switching for the sake of it isn’t worth the disruption.
Where Pipedrive isn’t enough
Pipedrive is built for sales. It falls short when other teams need to work from the same customer record.
You need to manage service tickets. Pipedrive has no help desk. Customer service runs in a separate tool, so salespeople can’t see a customer’s open tickets unless the two systems are connected.
You need marketing and sales aligned. Email marketing (Campaigns) is a paid add-on on every Pipedrive plan, from £13.33 a month, and website visitor tracking is another, from £41. Many teams use a separate email tool instead, so marketing can’t easily see which of its leads become deals, and sales can’t see what a contact has opened, downloaded or visited before a call.
You need reporting across the whole customer journey. Pipedrive reports well on deals and activities. Showing which campaign led to which deal, or how service affects renewals, means pulling data from several tools into a spreadsheet.
You can fill these gaps with extra tools around Pipedrive. The question is what that costs, in subscriptions and in time.
The comparison most guides skip: your whole stack
Seat for seat, Pipedrive is cheaper. Take a business with eight salespeople, two marketers and two people in customer service:
Pipedrive Premium for the sales team: 8 seats at £59 is £472 a month on annual billing.
HubSpot Professional for everyone: 12 GTM seats at £81 is £972 a month on annual billing, with 10,000 HubSpot Credits a month included for marketing emails, workflow actions and AI.
On seats alone, HubSpot costs £500 a month more. But the Pipedrive figure only covers sales. Before you decide, add up what the rest of the business uses:
Around Pipedrive | On HubSpot |
|---|---|
Pipedrive seats, plus seats for anyone in marketing who works in it | GTM seats for people who sell, market or serve customers |
Campaigns, or a separate email marketing tool | Marketing emails from your credit allowance, then extra credits or a capacity pack |
Help desk seats for the service team | Service tools included in GTM seats |
Connector subscriptions that keep the tools in sync | Fewer connections to build and maintain |
Time spent fixing sync problems and building reports in spreadsheets | Onboarding, through HubSpot or an accredited partner |
If your email tool, help desk and connectors already cost close to the gap, HubSpot is likely to be the better deal overall, before you count the time saved. If the gap is still wide, staying on Pipedrive may be the right call for now.
Two things worth knowing on the HubSpot side. Starter is cheaper, but it’s capped at 10 paid seats and has far less automation than Professional, so a team of 12 would be on Professional. When to stay on Pipedrive
Only your sales team uses the CRM, and that isn’t changing.
Marketing is light, such as a monthly newsletter, with no need for lead scoring or attribution.
Service is handled by account managers, or your help desk works well on its own.
Your pipeline is simple and the team likes the tool.
If that’s you, the cheaper fix is usually to tidy your Pipedrive account and connect the tools you already use with Zapier.
When HubSpot pulls ahead
Marketing and sales need the same history. Marketing wants to see what happens to its leads, and sales wants to see every email, form and page visit before a call.
Leadership wants one report. Campaigns, deals and revenue in one place, without the spreadsheet before every board meeting.
Service belongs on the record. Tickets sit next to deals, so sales knows about a problem before the renewal call.
The connectors keep breaking. If someone spends hours each month fixing syncs between tools, that time has a cost.
You want AI working on all your data. HubSpot’s customer, prospecting and data agents work across the whole customer record, paid for with credits.
A middle path: keep Pipedrive and connect it to HubSpot
Some teams keep Pipedrive for sales and use HubSpot for marketing, connected with HubSpot’s own Pipedrive data sync or with Zapier. It can work as a stepping stone. Long term, though, two CRMs means two bills, a sync to maintain and two versions of every customer.
What moving from Pipedrive to HubSpot involves
A move is very doable, and your history comes with you. Organisations, people and deals move across with their values, owners, stages and dates, and the notes and activities behind each deal land on its HubSpot timeline. Pipedrive automations don’t transfer on their own, so they’re rebuilt as HubSpot workflows, and it’s a good moment to tidy pipelines and fields that have grown over the years.
HubSpot’s own migration tool (Smart Transfer) can move standard Pipedrive records, and for a small, tidy account that may be all you need. The harder part is everything around the import: mapping custom fields, cleaning duplicates, keeping notes and emails on the right records, and checking the totals before go-live. If you’re on annual billing with Pipedrive, plan the move around your renewal date so you’re not paying for both for long.
We handle this as a fixed-price project. See our Pipedrive to HubSpot migration service for what’s included.
Frequently asked questions
Is HubSpot better than Pipedrive?
It depends on who uses the CRM. For a sales team that only needs a pipeline, Pipedrive is simple and good value. HubSpot is the better fit when sales, marketing and service need one customer record and one set of reports.
Is Pipedrive cheaper than HubSpot?
Per seat, yes: Pipedrive starts at £14 a seat a month on annual billing, against £81 for a HubSpot Professional GTM seat. Across the whole business it depends on what else you pay for alongside Pipedrive, such as an email tool, a help desk and connectors.
How much does Pipedrive cost in the UK?
From £14 a seat a month for Lite, up to £79 for Ultimate, on annual billing and excluding VAT. Monthly billing costs more: £24 to £99 a seat. Email marketing and website visitor tracking are paid add-ons on every plan.
What are the disadvantages of Pipedrive?
It’s built for sales. Managing service tickets needs a separate help desk, email marketing is a paid add-on or a separate tool, and reporting across marketing, sales and service usually means combining data from several systems.
What are the disadvantages of HubSpot?
A HubSpot seat costs more than a Pipedrive seat, Professional and Enterprise require onboarding, and usage such as marketing emails and workflow actions runs on credits, so heavy users need to keep an eye on their monthly allowance. Starter is capped at 10 paid seats.
Does Pipedrive do email marketing?
Yes, through the Campaigns add-on, which is a paid extra on every plan, from £13.33 a month.
Does Pipedrive have a help desk?
No. Pipedrive connects to separate help desk tools. HubSpot includes service tools, such as tickets, with every GTM seat.
Can we move from Pipedrive to HubSpot without losing deal history?
Yes. Deals move across with their values, stages, owners and dates, and their notes and activities keep their original dates. The full record of when a deal moved between stages may not carry over in the same form, so check that with whoever runs your migration.
Does HubSpot have a free plan?
HubSpot has free tools, including a free CRM, so you can try it before you pay. Pipedrive has a 14-day free trial instead of a free plan.
