Do you have to pay HubSpot’s onboarding fee?
If you buy HubSpot Professional or Enterprise, HubSpot requires a one-time onboarding purchase. If you onboard with an accredited Solutions Partner such as Pineo instead, you don’t pay HubSpot’s fee: you pay the partner to set HubSpot up with you.

Who has to buy onboarding
HubSpot’s pricing page says Professional and Enterprise customers are required to buy onboarding. It doesn’t say how much it costs: that comes on your quote.
If you’re already on Professional and move up to Enterprise, there’s no onboarding fee to pay.
Since HubSpot’s October 2026 pricing change in the UK and Europe, you buy one edition for the whole platform rather than separate Hubs. The edition you choose applies to everything in your account. The onboarding requirement follows the edition you choose, so a Professional account means a Professional onboarding fee.
Why HubSpot makes onboarding compulsory
HubSpot says it’s there so you get started on the right foot. The reason behind it is simple: Professional and Enterprise are big platforms, and teams that buy them planning to set everything up themselves often find it harder than expected. The setup stalls, the team never fully adopts it, and the business doesn’t get the value it paid for.
Making onboarding part of the purchase means every Professional and Enterprise customer is set up properly from the start, whether by HubSpot or by a partner. You get a HubSpot your team actually uses, and that’s what makes it worth paying for over the long term.
What HubSpot’s onboarding includes
HubSpot describes its onboarding as “technical and strategic guidance” on setting up the platform. HubSpot’s team builds an onboarding plan with you and guides your team through setting things up.
What it is:
Guidance on the settings and tools in your edition
A plan for the order to set things up
Advice on importing data from your old system
What it usually isn’t:
Someone doing the setup for you. Your team does the building, with HubSpot’s guidance.
Your processes designed for you. HubSpot shows you how its tools work. Mapping them to how your sales, marketing and service teams actually work is up to you.
Data migration or integrations done for you.
HubSpot’s own Marketing Hub onboarding page says that if you need extra help putting things in place, you’ll want a certified Solutions Partner.
The partner route
If a HubSpot Solutions Partner onboards you, HubSpot waives its own onboarding fee. Instead, you agree the onboarding work and price with the partner.
That changes three things:
Who you pay. You pay the partner, not HubSpot, for onboarding.
What you get. A partner can do the setup with you, or for you, around how your teams work. That usually includes pipelines, properties, automation, reporting and training.
Who you call afterwards. The same people who set HubSpot up are there when you need changes later.
Tell your HubSpot sales rep you’re working with a partner before you sign. The partner and the rep can then agree how onboarding appears on your quote.
HubSpot onboarding or a partner?
HubSpot onboarding | A Solutions Partner like Pineo | |
Who does the setup | Your team, with HubSpot’s guidance | You and the partner together, or the partner for you |
Built around your processes | You map your own processes | Designed with you, around how your teams work |
Data migration | Advice only | Can be included or added as a fixed-price extra |
Integrations with other tools | Advice only | Can be built for you |
After go-live | Ends when onboarding ends | Ongoing support if you want it |
Price | HubSpot’s fixed fee | Agreed with the partner; Pineo publishes fixed starting prices |
HubSpot’s onboarding suits teams with an in-house HubSpot admin who has time to do the build. A partner suits teams who want it set up properly first time, without taking someone off their day job for weeks.
What onboarding costs with Pineo
We offer two levels, both for HubSpot Professional and Enterprise only:
Guided onboarding. We set HubSpot up with you, live, in working sessions, so your team learns as it’s built. From £1,300 per Hub on Professional.
Implementation. We build it for you, including migration and integrations if you need them. From £1,900.
Guided onboarding prices per Hub:
Hub | Professional | Enterprise |
Sales Hub | £1,300 | £3,000 |
Service Hub | £1,300 | £3,000 |
Data Hub | £1,950 | £4,500 |
Revenue Hub | £1,600 | £3,700 |
Marketing Hub | £2,600 | £6,000 |
Two or three Hubs get 15% off. Four or more get 25% off.
A worked example. A 20-person business moving onto HubSpot Professional wants sales and marketing set up together. Sales Hub at £1,300 plus Marketing Hub at £2,600 comes to £3,900. With 15% off for two Hubs, that’s £3,310, excluding VAT. If they also need their contacts and deals moved from their old CRM, data migration starts from £550.
You can work out your own estimate on our HubSpot onboarding page.
What to ask before you sign
Is the onboarding fee on my quote, and how much is it?
Does the fee change if I work with a Solutions Partner?
Does the onboarding include data migration, or is that separate?
Who does the actual setup work: my team, HubSpot or a partner?
What happens after onboarding ends, if we need changes?
Our take
The onboarding fee itself is rarely the real cost. The real cost is a HubSpot set up without thought for how your teams work, which you end up paying to fix later. We see it all the time in audits: pipelines nobody uses, properties nobody fills in, reports nobody trusts.
Whichever route you take, settle three things before anything is built. Agree what HubSpot needs to do for the business. Agree who owns the setup. Agree what happens after go-live. If a partner can’t answer those clearly on the first call, keep looking.
Frequently asked questions
Is HubSpot onboarding mandatory?
On Professional and Enterprise, yes. HubSpot makes it part of the purchase so every customer is set up properly and gets value from the platform, rather than struggling with a do-it-yourself setup.
Can the HubSpot onboarding fee be waived?
Yes. HubSpot waives it if you onboard with an accredited Solutions Partner instead. You then agree the onboarding work and price with the partner.
How much is HubSpot’s onboarding fee?
HubSpot doesn’t publish the price. Its pricing page says Professional and Enterprise customers must buy onboarding, and your HubSpot rep will include the cost in your quote.
Do we pay onboarding again if we upgrade?
Not if you move from Professional to Enterprise: there’s no onboarding fee for that upgrade.
How long does onboarding take?
It depends on how many Hubs you set up and how much data you bring across. Most single-Hub projects take a few weeks.
Does onboarding include data migration?
HubSpot’s onboarding gives you advice on importing data, but your team does the import. With Pineo, data migration is a fixed-price extra from £550, added only if you need it.
Can we set HubSpot up ourselves?
On Professional and Enterprise you still have to buy onboarding, and there’s a lot to set up. Teams with an experienced in-house HubSpot admin can do it with HubSpot’s guidance. Teams without one usually get there faster, and with fewer fixes later, with a partner.
